The main activities of our Branch involve groups meeting in either members’ homes, often on a rota basis, or local halls. With one or two exceptions all activities take place in the day and the size of the group is usually determined by its location. Within the groups, activities are organized by members.
Some groups may be full and membership may involve going on a waiting list.

Although a large group we rarely have more than ten members attending any event. The main trip is to a specific site to target individual or groups of birds. The timing and date of these visits aims to maximise the chances of seeing the target species so is not fixed. Local visits tend to take a couple of hours but more distant sites are all day events.

A key facet of meetings is the regular sharing of individuals’ knowledge mainly on an informal basis, but also with occasional structured presentations. The aid of a projector and screen, together with internet access, ensure that discussions are both practical and interactive. It doesn’t matter what level of expertise individuals have, just an ability to fit in and learn something new.

2nd Friday am The group meets from 10:30 – 12:30 during which time each member shares a story they have written. Our aim is to share a common interest in the written word, as well as having access to constructive criticism if required. FRENCH INTERMEDIATE AND CONVERSATION
Every Tuesday am
This small Intermediate group, tutored by a fluent French speaker, meets for a session lasting from 10:00 to 11:00. Beginning with an oral warm-up members move on, in a relaxed but progressive way, to a particular theme or, occasionally, work from Breakthrough French. The weekly grammar session usually lasts no more than ten minutes. At 11:00 members then have coffee, during which time they are joined by those from French Conversation prior to their own meeting.
Although Conversation begins at 11:30, some may wish, first, to join members of French Intermediate for coffee at 11:00. Afterwards the tutor, a fluent French speaker, begins with a comprehensive conjugation warm-up. Then each session, always relaxed but progressive, moves on to focus on a particular theme – often related to the Sheringham/Muzillac Twinning Association. All members participate fully and are often expected to prepare something to share with the rest of the group. The Standard is between 'O' and 'A' Level.
