Family History
The group meets in Field Dalling Village Hall on the 4th Friday in the month (morning)
Our family history group covers everything from the very beginning of a family tree to advanced research. How far can you go with a family tree?
We find it interesting to also investigate the lives of the families, how they lived, their employment for example coalminers and firefighters, the area they were born and lived in, maybe they fought in the wars. Other typical topics covered included Immigration / emigration, rags to riches and vice versa, the workhouse and lives of agricultural labourers, getting information from Obituaries and wills, researching the register of 1939 and census, how to date photographs and documents.
We can help you find all this information and this way bring to life a family rather than just a name and a date on your tree.
We have access to many web sites between us, and only too pleased to assist you. In the group we have members just starting out to those who have spent years on research, so we can offer a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Come along and give it a try, we are a friendly bunch.
