Walking Group
The North Norfolk Walking Group meet on the second Thursday of every month and a programme of walks for the year is circulated to all members.
Members are usually offered 3 walks which vary in the distance they cover and the starting time that they meet:
‘Long Walkers’ – walk approx. 6 miles and meet at 9.45am
‘Short Walkers’ – walk approx. 4 miles and meet at 10am
‘The Strollers’ – walk approx. 1 to 2 miles and meet at 10.30am.
(Please note that dogs are not allowed on the walks.)
Members are emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to each walk and are asked to confirm which one of the 3 walking groups they wish to join. Each walk will have a designated leader who will have undertaken a recce walk prior to the group walk and completed a Risk Assessment pro-forma.
All walks start from a pub/eating place as most members (but not all) choose to stay for a group lunch after completing the walk. Around 25 members usually stay for lunch, so most establishments ask members to pre-order and this is currently co-ordinated by the Walking Group’s Co-ordinator.
Prospective members are invited to join a walk on a trial basis before signing-up. On joining all members must complete a registration form, which requires members to provide their contact details and emergency contacts.
